End Street

The project involves the regeneration of two blocks in the gridded old quarter of Johannesburg.  Centred around the pedestrianisation of Davis Street, the project involves injecting new life into the area through the introduction of over 300 new homes, shops and leisure facilities to support the refurbishment of the existing shopping centre.

A fundamental objective of the scheme is to strengthen the connections to the wider area through a legible, easy to navigate and attractive public realm.   Central to this is the introduction of a stepped landscaped area which rises three floors from the street to the station at the end, linking street level with new commercial uses on the first floor on the way to the ticket office.
